Job Purpose:

To assist the Senior Manager - Policy Advocacy in carrying out policy advocacy functions and activities aimed at achieving departmental objectives. These efforts will contribute to creating a favorable business environment aligned with the Chamber's and Dubai Government's vision and strategic objectives.

Key Accountabilities:

Policy Advocacy

• Research and propose new advocacy initiatives
• Prepare legal studies for advocacy topics defined in the annual plan
• Engage in advocacy discussions and provide legal context and implications to relevant internal department and the government
• Fully comprehend the concept of Advocacy as an organized process of influencing decision makers in order to achieve a stated positive change in regulations affecting businesses.
• Suggest amendment to existing laws/policies or introduction of new laws/policies relating to different activities in businesses.

Information Security

• Adherence to the information security policies/processes/program and for reporting any security breaches or incidents to the direct management.

Policies, Systems, Processes and Procedures

• Contribute to the identification of opportunities for the continuous improvement of departmental systems, policies, processes and practices considering ‘international leading practices’ to improve productivity and operational efficiency.
• Provide critical input to support the development of Department’s systems, policies, processes, and procedures to meet business requirements.
• Ensure team members comply with all Department’s policies, processes, standard operating procedures and instructions so that work is carried out in a controlled and consistent manner

Qualifications & Experience:

Minimum Qualification

• Bachelor's Degree in Law or business or equivalent

Minimum Experience and Skills

• 3-5 years of experience in relevant field
• Experience in lobbying for advocacy topics and international experience is a plus.
• Demonstrated knowledge about relevant advocacy topics at the federal and Dubai level
• Understanding of the Legal landscape in Dubai and UAE implications of policy changes
• Proven track record of managing government relations with senior stakeholders
• Relationship Management

• Excellent language proficiency
• Proactive 'ownership' mindset
